Barcelona have placed all transfer operations on hold waiting for Nico Williams’ decision to a point where it may well backfire.
The Blaugrana have neither made any big sales or signings this summer, and with just 15 days to go for the start of the season, there is now a growing sense of impatience.
One of the primary objectives that has got masked by the club’s other agendas is the future of Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix. After all, it is still unclear at this point if either player will return to Catalonia.
A big update
As revealed in a recent update by Catalunya Radio (h/t FCB World), the two Portuguese stars are still options for the Blaugrana. Club sources even confirm that the two players are still on the wish-list and are not out of contention.

The operations to sign them, however, will not be straightforward as they will depend on the financial fair play situation.
Barcelona, for their part, are determined to give the players a place in the team for next season and a return on loan would be the best way forward.
Two contrasting situations
Between the two Joaos, it is safe to say that Cancelo makes a stronger case to return for next season especially given the team’s lack of a genuine right-back option.
The defender is currently with Manchester City but does not see eye to eye with the manager and is pushing to resolve his future soon so he can return to the field.
Felix, meanwhile, will likely be an option for the Catalans if Nico Williams does not arrive. After all, both players play on the left-wing despite their starkly different profiles.
