August 2 – The English Football Association (FA) has extended its long-term global partnership of the FA Cup with Emirates for a further four years, that will see the world’s oldest domestic cup competition continue to be called the Emirates FA Cup until 2028.
Emirates’ existing contract was due to expire at the end of the upcoming 2024-25 season.
The airline first became the FA Cup title sponsor in 2015 in as part of a three-year deal naming the competition the Emirates FA Cup and giving the airline global and exclusive rights to its brand and properties. This agreement has since been subject to a number of lucrative extensions as the two entities become synonymous with one another.
The new agreement is reportedly valued at around £10 million ($12.8 million) per season – similar terms to its previous deal but with the scrapping of FA Cup replays in mind.
FA chief executive Mark Bullingham said: “Emirates has been a valued partner of the FA Cup for almost a decade, and we are delighted to be extending our relationship once again.
“Our partnership has gone from strength to strength over the years and their commitment to the domestic cup competition during that time has greatly benefitted the English game.
“Their global reach continues to help us, and their ongoing investment into the Emirates FA Cup helps us to provide vital funding across all levels of English football.”
Emirates will maintain its international activation around the FA Cup, showcasing the iconic trophy in key markets such as Ghana, Kenya, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and the US. The initiative will include fan engagement activities in collaboration with the FA, aiming to expand the competition’s global footprint.
