Player leaves for Newcastle medical – Fee agreed, personal terms and long-term deal

Newcastle have struck a deal to sign Sheffield United striker William Osula, with the Denmark Under-21 international now on his way to the North East to complete the move.

With a £10m fee agreed – a further £5m could also be paid in future add-ons – The Athletic’s George Caulkin has revealed that the 20-year-old is en route to Tyneside to finalise personal terms, which are not expected to be a problem, and undergo a medical.

Fabrizio Romano also reports that Newcastle plan to announce his arrival ‘very soon’, with an agreement in place with Sheffield United and the player’s camp as Osula prepares to sign a ‘long-term deal’ at St James’ Park.

The 6ft 3′ forward remains a work in progress, but he’s tall, mobile, has quick feet and plenty of potential for Eddie Howe to work with. Not only that, the youngster will learn a lot from star man Alexander Isak and proven Premier League striker Callum Wilson; providing the latter does stick around for the final 12 months of his contract.

Osula has scored four goals in his last three games for club and country this summer, following a brace for Denmark’s U21s with pre-season strikes against York and Chesterfield.
