Transfer boost – RB Leipzig identify replacement for Barcelona priority target

Barcelona are still embroiled in a transfer saga involving top attacking target Dani Olmo.

With uncertainty growing over Nico Williams’ capture, Barcelona have identified Olmo as the ideal attacking reinforcement for the season ahead.

Barça, though, have had a difficult time negotiating with RB Leipzig, who are determined to yield €60 million out of the Olmo sale. But with time running out, the Bundesliga giants are facing immense pressure to close a deal sooner rather than later.

Leipzig identify Olmo replacement

To that end, a recent report from Sky Germany (h/t SPORT) has offered a major update on RB Leipzig and their search for a Dani Olmo replacement.

It appears the Bundesliga giants have identified Rayan Cherki as the perfect man to replace Olmo. Valued at around €15-20 million, Leipzig are ready to splash the cash on the Frenchman this summer.

Cherki was earlier linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, but the club’s new coach Nuri Sahin is not keen on the Frenchman right now.

This has given Leipzig a free entry, as they look to shore up their ranks in the creative department.

Big boost for Barcelona?

Leipzig’s boost in the race to sign Rayan Cherki could bode well for Barcelona, as it would mean the Bundesliga giants will move a step closer to securing the exit of Olmo.

As per the report, the Catalans are still working on an agreement with Leipzig. Their last two offers have been rejected by the East German giants, but the club have not yet given up.

The fact that Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement with Dani Olmo could prove to be a catalyst for the Blaugrana.

Whether or not the club can utilise the market opportunity within the next few weeks remains to be seen.
