After last night’s 4-0 win over Girona, we can expect to see a totally new starting 11 for today’s 4pm clash with Stade Brest; a Ligue 1 side who finished third in the French top flight last season.
Based on Howe’s comments (see below), those that missed out yesterday and our current injury list, it looks like we could see something like this today:
Predicted XI (4-3-3):Vlachodimos – Trippier, Schar, Kelly, Lewis – Harrison or Turner-Cooke, Guimaraes, Willock – Almiron, Osula, Barnes.
With Lewis Miley injured and Sandro Tonali still ineligible, we think it’ll be either Alfie Harrison or Jay Turner-Cooke starting in midfield alongside Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock if Joe White (back) remains out.
Will Osula could lead the line and make his first Newcastle appearance alongside Odysseas Vlachodimos and Lloyd Kelly, with Howe hinting that the Danish striker could start after an impressive few days in training:
“He’s trained the last two days and trained very well.” How said. “He’s very keen to make a positive impression and I think he has done that. I’m excited to see how he plays.”
“Everybody who didn’t play tonight will play tomorrow. It will be a totally different XI and everyone who is fit will be play.”
