Reigning Scottish Premiership winners Celtic made it back-to-back victories to begin their title defense.
Cameron Carter-Vickers logged 90 minutes in defense as Brendan Rodgers’ squad defeated Hibernian 2-0 at Easter Road on Sunday. The U.S. men’s national team defender has continued to hold down a starting spot for Celtic and he helped them register their first clean sheet of the new campaign on Sunday.
Carter-Vickers won seven of his eight duels, made six clearances, and two interceptions as Celtic held Hibernian to zero shots on target. The former Tottenham product remains a key member of the squad and Rodgers will hope Carter-Vickers stays healthy long-term this season.
These two sides will meet again next weekend at Celtic Park in the second round of the Scottish League Cup.
In England, Aidan Morris made his Middlesbrough debut in a 1-0 win over Swansea City. Brenden Aaronson scored the tying goal for Leeds United in a 3-3 home draw vs. Portsmouth.
In Holland, Malik Tillman scored a beauty in PSV’s dominant win over RKC Waalwijk. RichieLedezma made his first club start since November 2022.
