The NUFC Blogcast is back for another episode, as I look back at an eventful weekend of action at St James’ Park following the Sela Weekender, reviewing all three games (Listen here or press play below)
I start by taking a look back at our 4-0 win over Girona on Friday, discussing our impressive pressing, the brilliant Joelinton, Alexander Isak, pre-season star Jacob Murphy and Trevan Sanusi; the 17-year-old talent who made a real impression off the bench.
After a quick look back at Newcastle United Women’s 2-2 draw and shootout win over AC Milan in the 1pm kick-off on Saturday, which featured a stunning opening goal and a few new signings, I then review our 4pm clash with Stade Brest.
The 1-0 win over the Ligue 1 side wasn’t quite as entertaining as Friday’s goal-fest, but featured a really promising debut from Will Osula, positive signs from Lloyd Kelly and an U21 talent who struggled to impose himself on the game in Alfie Harrison.
I end by running through all of our pre-season results and our top scorers for the summer, with myself and Ed set to return on in a few days time to preview the season and Saturday’s opener against Southampton.
