Celtic will look to make it two wins on the bounce at the start of the Scottish Premiership season when they face Hibernian in Edinburgh on Sunday.

The reigning champions opened their account with a 4-0 home win versus Kilmarnock last Sunday, while Hibs were humbled 3-0 3-0 by St Mirren.

Hibs looked abject in their opener as they lost 3-0 away at St Mirren – a poor start to the season for new boss David Gray.

It was a mixed bag for the capital club In the League Cup Group Phase as they blew away Elgin City, Queen’s Park and Peterhead, only to lose to Kelty Hearts in the second fixture.

Celtic current form

In their pre-season friendlies, Celtic were hugely impressive, earning victories against Manchester City, Chelsea, DC United and Queen’s Park, while they drew 1-1 with Ayr.

They may have been friendlies, but the manner of the 4-3 and 4-1 wins over the Premier League sides provided cause for optimism.

They took that form into the opening game of the season as they easily dispatched Killie with a 4-0 win, with Reo Hatate, Liam Scales, Nicolas Kuhn and Anthony Ralston scoring the goals.

Hibs vs Celtic Team News

Harry McKirdy and Chris Cadden returned to the Hibs squad for the St Mirren game after injury and are available here, but there are still concerns over the fitness of influential forward Elie Youan.

For Celtic, the only injury concern surrounds Daizen Maeda as he missed the Killie victory due to a bruised knee. It isn’t serious so should be available, though it will be up to Brendan Rodgers to decide if he is match fit.
