Barcelona now monitoring Trent Alexander-Arnold’s situation at Liverpool

Barcelona have reportedly begun to monitor the contract situation of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool as they feel a move could be possible next summer.

The England international is out of contract with the Merseyside club in 2025 and so far there has been no sign of a new deal arriving for the 25-year-old.

The right-back’s current position at the Premier League side has caught the attention of Real Madrid, who are monitoring Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation at Anfield as a free transfer could be on the cards next summer, reports Fabrizio Romano.

According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona have now joined their La Liga rivals in monitoring the full-back as a potential bargain could be on the cards for the Spanish giants.

The report states that both clubs believe Alexander-Arnold would be open to a move. The right-back roles at Barcelona and Real Madrid are not sorted long-term and there are very few players better than the England international to fix the issue.

However, the defender is someone Liverpool will not want to lose, let only for free.

Liverpool make Trent Alexander-Arnold’s situation a high priority

According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are calm about Alexander-Arnold’s situation but have made a contract for the full-back a high priority.

The defender will hold further talks with new Liverpool coach Arne Slot about his role and position next week and once that is complete, the Merseyside club will soon attempt to advance things on the contract front.

The 25-year-old has been crucial to Liverpool’s success since making his debut in 2016 and has gone on to play 310 games for the Merseyside club, scoring 19 goals and assisting an incredible 81.

Being a local boy it would be hard for Alexander-Arnold to leave Liverpool and if the Reds make it worthwhile, the full-back is very likely to turn down the interest of the Spanish giants and remain at Anfield for a few more seasons.
