There was a lot of excitement in the Barcelona camp when the club announced the signing of Dani Olmo, who signed a six-year deal with the club.
However, that excitement has now turned into agony for Barcelona fans, as the club scramble to register the former RB Leipzig forward for the season ahead.
Barcelona’s economic problems and an inflated wage bill have been well-documented. This very problem could prevent the club from registering for their key signing.
Barcelona have a big problem
According to Cadena SER, Barcelona are not in a position to register Dani Olmo, as things stand. Worse yet, the club may not be able to register the Spaniard at all, if they fail to get rid of some key players in the team.

This is due to the fact that Barça are still yet to return to the 1:1 rule despite reaching a new agreement with Aramark.
It appears Barça require an additional windfall of €60 million in order to return to the 1:1 rule, which grants them the ability to spend each euro they generate.
In this context, registering Dani Olmo could require Barcelona to generate a figure of around €50 million, either through sales or through another economic lever.
It must be noted that Barcelona are in talks with Nike over a new deal that could serve as a major financial boost for the club.
The Catalans will be hoping that they announce the deal sooner rather than later, knowing the transfer market slams to a shut in three weeks time.
