Barcelona weighing up loan deal for €50 million-rated Bundesliga forward

With the Nico Williams operation on the brink of collapse, FC Barcelona are now weighing up alternatives as they remain intent on strengthening their attacking unit on the left side.

Bayern Munich speedster Kingsley Coman is one such alternative being considered, along with Luis Diaz of Liverpool and AC Milan superstar Rafael Leao.

Coman the best option

Now, though, SPORT reports that Barcelona view Coman as the best option for them this summer, both in terms of economic feasibility as well as Hansi Flick’s sporting plans.

Coman, 28, is not a part of Bayern Munich’s plans for the new season and the Bavarian giants are eager to get rid of his salary before the window closes.

To that end, the French winger is being offered to clubs across Europe by his agents, with both Barcelona and PSG getting provided with opportunities to sign him up.

The Catalans had been clear with Coman’s entourage that their priority was always Nico Williams but if that operation fell through they would consider the French international which happens to be the case now.

Loan deal?

According to the report, Barcelona see Coman as a feasible operation in the form of a loan with an option to buy and could be a solution for one season while waiting for a bigger investment in the future.

As such, Barça are already positioning themselves for a possible loan move for the winger and are waiting to see if the player’s salary can be lowered.

Flick and Coman know each other very well from their time together at Bayern Munich, when the French ace played a key role in the Bavarians’ sextuple triumph.

While he is a differential player, injuries have taken a toll on the ex-Juventus and PSG man in recent seasons. But signing him would not mean a big outlay and would solve the position for one year in the hope that in 2025 a big investment could be made.
