According to Mark Douglas at the i, Newcastle United are expected to make a move for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke if Miguel Almiron is sold in the final few weeks of the summer window.
He reports that Chelsea could be tempted to sell the 22-year-old following their big-money move for Pedro Neto – who could impact Madueke’s minutes – and claims that Toon boss Eddie Howe is a fan of the former England U21 talent.
NUFC Blog revealed last Friday that Newcastle have been exploring an initial loan with an obligation to buy Madueke next summer, but it remains to be seen if the Blues would accept such a deal after agreeing to similar terms for Lewis Hall.
As for Almiron, The Chronicle report that we’ve rejected an initial offer from Charlotte FC for the Paraguayan, with the club feeling their first bid was too low for someone Howe still considers an important senior player.
Despite Fabrizio Romano reporting that the MLS side are in the UK discussing a potential move, Douglas insists that an agreement is not close as things stand, suggesting the two clubs are apart on valuation. If he’s to return to America, a deal will have to be struck soon, however, with the MLS window shutting tomorrow.
Newcastle set to target #cfc winger Noni Madueke IF they sell Miguel Almiron to @CharlotteFC. ⚫️⚪️⚫️
Approach made but agreement not close – and #nufc see Almiron as important player. Less than 48 hours to do deal.
