Having impressed Howe during pre-season, Jamie Miley, the older brother of Lewis is now expected to head out on loan for the 2024/25 campaign.
While his brother, Lewis Miley burst onto the scene last season, helped by injuries to half the squad and the ban to Sandro Tonali. It looks like Jamie will instead be loaned out to get first-team football.
According to Pete O’Rourke at Football Insider, Jamie Miley is a target for a host of League One and League Two sides, with Northampton, Crawley, Gillingham and Newport all expressing an interest in the 20-year-old.
Despite impressing Howe, it appears to have been decided that J Miley is best going out on loan for the season. Long-term it’s hard to say what comes of Miley, but Elliot Anderson improved a lot on his loan to the lower leagues with Bristol Rovers, so maybe Jamie can do the same.
Miley signed a pro contract in 2022, and has been a key member of the U-21 side since he turned 17. Jamie was the captain of the side in 23/24, and now needs to push on as he looks to secure his professional career. Jamie signed a new deal at the end of the 2024 season.
Jamie is the oldest of the Miley brothers, with brothers Lewis, and Mason at the club. A fourth brother, Layton, slipped through the Newcastle net as he currently plays for the Sunderland academy setup.
