After strong links yesterday, the i’s Mark Douglas has issued an update on links to Olympiacos star Santiago Hezze, along with the latest on Kieran Trippier’s future and our pursuit of Marc Guehi.
He reports that sources in Greece have told iNews that Newcastle are showing interest in Hezze, revealing that the 22-year-old would cost the club around £18m as we looked to sign more ‘project players’ who can soon develop into first-team stars under Eddie Howe; much like Livramento, Hall and Osula.
It’s an intriguing link, with the holding midfielder shining for Olympiacos last season, helping them lift the Europa Conference League before representing Argentina at the Olympics.
As for Kieran Trippier, Douglas reveals that the unsettled 33-year-old is not keen on a move to Saudi Arabia as he fears it could impact his England hopes under new interim boss Lee Carsley, with Jordan Henderson’s standing at international suffering after he left for the Middle East.
He’s keen to leave before next week’s deadline and has interest from Everton, although the i report that Newcastle are unlikely to sanction a loan move to Goodison Park when this could be our last chance to land a decent fee.
Last but not least, Douglas reveals that Newcastle believe Crystal Palace are now ‘open’ to a compromise for Marc Guehi, adding that the 24-year-old is keen to secure a move to St James’ Park, where personal terms would ‘not be a problem.’
