The points were shared at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday as Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Newcastle.
The home side opened the scoring in the first half through Marcus Tavernier, who stabbed home from close range. Newcastle toiled for the majority of the game, but eventually scored the equaliser after Antony Gordon drifted in at the back post to guide a strike home after a lovely cross from Harvey Barnes.
Bournemouth thought they had won it in injury time after Dango Ouattara smuggled an effort home from a corner, but VAR intervened as the ball went in off his arm.
Player of the Match
There wasn’t a completely outstanding performer on the day, but Gordon takes the honours after his all-important equalising goal.
It wasn’t just the goal, though, as he contributed plenty in the final third. He sent 10 passes into the final third, had four touches in the opposition box and won the majority of his ground duels.
He had 48 touches of the ball, overall, so was heavily involved before he was substituted late on.
Worst Player
Newcastle had both the best player on the pitch and the worst, and they featured on opposite wings as Jacob Murphy had a poor day at the office.
He completed zero shots on goal and zero successful dribbles, while only two crosses were sent into the box (compared to the seven of Gordon).
He won just one duel and had a pass completion rate of 67%. Murphy was eventually substituted before the hour mark for Harvey Barnes, who changed the game.
