Liverpool comfortably dispatched Brentford 2-0 on Sunday as Arne Slot earned his first Premier League victory at Anfield.
Thomas Frank’s side carried a threat through, particularly from set-pieces, but goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah for enough for Liverpool to claim all three points.
Player of the Match
Right from the get-go, Diaz looked up for this one as his pressing and one-touch passing was sharp.
It didn’t take long for him to find the back of the net, either, as the first goal came just 11 minutes in. Brentford had a corner-kick but were caught out by a rapid Liverpool counter, with Salah winning the ball on the edge of the box and laying a pass into space for Diogo Jota.
The Portuguese star darted forward and slid a perfect pass through on goal for Diaz, who took a couple of perfect touches before lashing a strike home past the keeper.
Remarkably, despite being all action, Diaz actually completed 100% of his passes on the day, with 15 of those passes being sent into dangerous areas in the final third.
One of those passes came in the second half as he sent a pass through down the right channel for Salah to score.
He won the majority of his duels, the majority of his tackles and made four ball recoveries.
Worst Player
Mathias Jensen didn’t have a good game for the visitors.
He didn’t look up for the battle in the middle of the pitch on the day and won zero tackles and made zero interceptions, while he completed just two ball recoveries.
Just before half-time, he was booked and that further impaired his ability to get near the Liverpool players, in fear of getting sent off.
He was eventually substituted.
