Barcelona secured a third consecutive win in the new La Liga season last night as they came from behind to defeat Rayo Vallecano 2-1 away from home.
Star midfielder Pedri was one of the main protagonists for Barça on the night as he scored the equalising goal for his team in the 60th minute while putting on an all-round display, especially in the second period of the contest.
Pedri admits to feeling very well physically
While the midfielder’s quality has never been in doubt, Pedri has been troubled by intermittent injury woes for most of his time at Barcelona thus far.
In fact, the 21-year-old came into the new season after recovering from an injury he sustained at the UEFA Euro 2024 with Spain.
But speaking to the media (h/t BarçaOne) after the game, Pedri stated that he feels that he is in the best shape in physical terms.
“I’m in very good physical condition. I think I haven’t felt this way physically in a long time,” the Spanish international remarked.

After playing around half an hour in the opening game against Valencia, Pedri played the full 90 minutes in the second league clash vs Athletic Club.
Against Rayo Vallecano last night, the midfielder lasted almost the full game, only to be taken off with a knock in the 90th minute.
Given his physical troubles in the past, occasions of Pedri playing 90 minutes in back-to-back matches, that too with only a three-day turnaround between games, have been very rare.
But the work being done by Hansi Flick and his team, along with the new fitness coaches, seems to be paying off as Pedri looked very sharp and in tip-top shape in both games against Athletic and Rayo, until the knock he sustained due to a poor challenge from an opponent.
