With just a few days remaining before the transfer market comes to a close, Barcelona are scrambling for late reinforcements.
The club have been taken aback by a recent set of injuries. Especially in the defensive unit, coach Hansi Flick has had to deal with fresh injuries to Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen.
This has forced Barcelona to look for a new signing late in the transfer market, with the club recently being linked with a move for Jonathan Tah.
Flick sought Deco’s help
Barcelona’s hopes of securing a late transfer of Tah suffered an early blow when Bayer Leverkusen director shut down rumours about the same.
However, Flick has not lost any hope just yet and has asked the Barcelona management to try and sign the German international.

As per Florian Plettenberg, sporting director Deco himself is now directly involved in and working on a deal to sign Tah.
Barcelona, as reported earlier, are ready to pay a fee of €20 million for the centre-back, who was key in Leverkusen’s Bundesliga triumph last season.
Can Barcelona compete with Bayern?
The biggest hurdle for Barcelona, apart from their economic woes, will be Bayern Munich. The Bavarians have been linked with a move for Tah all summer, as new coach Vincent Kompany desperately looks for defensive reinforcements.
As per Plettenberg, there were fresh talks held between the player and Bayern, but the Bundesliga giants are yet to come up with an official proposal.
Tah, for his part, is determined to leave Leverkusen in the next 48 hours. If not, the German is willing to leave the club for free in the summer of 2025, when he will become a free agent.
