According to Alan Nixon at The Sun, Newcastle United right-back Harrison Ashby has become a loan target for a handful of Championship clubs ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
Stoke City, QPR and Blackburn Rovers are all in the race to sign the right-back who spent last season on loan at Swansea where he dealt with a couple of injury problems.
Ashby completed a £3m move from West Ham in the same window as Anthony Gordon over 18 months ago, but the 22-year-old is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the club 18 months on from his transfer.
According to Nixon, Newcastle are looking for encouragement that Ashby will play a significant amount of games to warrant sending him back out on loan.
It’s difficult to see what future Ashby has at Newcastle given the signing of Tino Livramento, but at the very least we’ll no doubt be hoping to make a profit on him when he eventually does move on.
