Newcastle United trio Tino Livramento, Nick Pope and Anthony Gordon have all been called up to Lee Carsley’s first England squad.
For Tino, it’s the very first time he’s been selected for the senior squad after previously representing the Three Lions at U21 level. A great moment for him and a call-up that comes on the day fellow right-back Kieran Trippier announced his retirement from international football.
Carsley will know Gordon well from his time with the U21s – he managed them to European Championship glory last summer – while Pope’s call-up is a boost for our No.1 after his recovery from shoulder surgery and a strong start to the season.
Here’s the squad in full ahead of next month’s Nations League games against Ireland and Finland, which features Toon targets Noni Madueke and Marc Guehi:
Interesting to see several former U21 stars included by Carsley, with Morgan Gibbs-White and Angel Gomes also called up along with Levi Colwill and Maduke; another that starred for the Young Lions last summer.
