Barcelona show interest in deadline-day loan move for PSG veteran – report

Even though it has been stated that Barcelona consider the transfer window closed as far as they are concerned, things can happen on the deadline day.

Last year, we saw the Catalans engineer several last-minute deals to strengthen the squad and even though the likelihood of it appears slim at this point, it seems that Barcelona are not giving up behind the scenes.

Late loan move for Danilo Pereira?

Indeed, according to French publication L’Equipe, Barcelona have shown an interest in acquiring the services of PSG midfielder Danilo Pereira on loan in the coming hours.

Pereira, 32, is deemed surplus to requirements at PSG and is expected to leave before the transfer window closes at midnight today.

Barcelona, for their part, have been linked with a move for the Portuguese international for a few weeks now, although no movement has taken place thus far.

With Marc Bernal’s injury, Hansi Flick has stated that he will count on Marc Casado and Eric Garcia as alternatives, but a late move for Pereira is seemingly being explored.

However, as was the case with Stefan Bajcetic earlier this week, Fair Play space presents a major concern for Barcelona.

And Pereira’s salary is likely to be much higher than Bajcetic’s making one question the veracity of the claims of Barcelona considering a late move for him.

One way that the Catalans could register Pereira, if they do indeed sign him, would be for the club board to present financial guarantees – a possibility that looks very slim at this moment.

With Pereira’s former club FC Porto also interested, there is a greater chance of him moving back to Portugal than ending up at the Catalan capital.
