Joe Willock injury update – Eddie Howe reveals scan results and early signs

Transfer updates aside, one of the big topics during Eddie Howe’s Friday morning press conference was Joe Willock – and it looks like the midfielder has escaped anything serious.

After hobbling off at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night and undergoing scans, Howe has revealed that the early signs offer “relatively good news”.

Willock will go for another scan in a few days “just to confirm” that he’s avoided anything anything serious, but the early signs look good, with Howe stating “it doesn’t look too bad.”

“Joe had a scan yesterday, an early scan, it is relatively good news,” Howe said. “I don’t think it is a serious injury, but it is early, so we will re-scan again in a few days again just to confirm that. It doesn’t look too bad.”

After an injury riddled 2023/24 campaign and a return to fitness over pre-season, it was a huge blow and hard to watch as Willock limped off at the City Ground. However, if he’s OK and expected back before long, this might just be the best news we get today.
