Reds run riot at Old Trafford

Arne Slot’s new era at Liverpool continued in commanding fashion after they beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils collapsed under the pressure of their Northwest rivals, particularly in the first half.

Liverpool looked hungrier, more energetic and more organised as they pinched the ball back in dangerous positions all over the pitch.

The Reds looked to have taken the lead after seven minutes, with Trent Alexander-Arnold firing the ball over the line with seven minutes on the clock.

But it was ruled out for offside after Mohamed Salah got a touch on the first ball, cancelling out Alexander-Arnold’s Steven Gerrard-esque kiss to the camera.

It would not matter, however, as Liverpool did have their breakthrough 35 minutes in.

Casemiro, who struggled before being subbed off at half-time, saw his pass cut out and Salah was released into space, eventually teeing up Luis Diaz to break the deadlock.

This one counted, and seven minutes later it was 2-0.

Casemiro was dispossessed again, this time by Diaz, who set Salah away, with the Egyptian once again laying it off for the Colombian winger to bury into the net.

While Man United came out in the second half with a bee in their bonnet, the game was put to bed on the 56th minute.

Liverpool won the ball from Kobbie Mainoo in midfield, and Dominik Szoboaszlai put it on a plate for Salah to finish.

It was another customary strike for Salah at Old Trafford, his seventh in a row.

And from there it was plain sailing for Slot’s men, who never really looked troubled heading into the final stages.

The win puts Liverpool into second in the table, behind Manchester City.

They are the only two teams to maintain…
