Sweden will look to make it two wins out of two in the 2024/25 Nations League when they face Estonia on Sunday.
On Thursday, they defeated Azerbaijan 3-2.
Match Preview
Sweden recent form
Sweden were not involved in the European Championships so the game against Azerbaijan was their first competitive fixture since November of 2023 when they, funnily enough, played Estonia.
They overcame Azerbaijan 3-1 thanks to a double from Alexander Isak and a penalty from Viktor Gyokeres.
Sweden injury news
Robin Olsen is out injured so Viktor Johansson will likely continue in goal, though Jacob Widell Zetterstrom is another option.
Anthony Elanga was replaced at half-time against Azerbaijan and it isn’t clear if this was due to injury or tactical. Either way, his place in the starting XI might be taken by Ken Sema.
Estonia recent form
Estonia lost 1-0 to Slovakia in the Nations League on Thursday.
During the summer they weren’t involved in the Euros so took part in the Baltic Cup where they defeated the Faroe Island and then Lithuania, the second victory coming via penalties.
Estonia injury news
Maksim Paskotsi remains out for Estonia after picking up an injury while playing for Grasshopper.
Sweden – Player to Watch?
Alexander Isak is striking up an impressive partnership with Gyokeres and indeed it was the latter who set up the former’s two goals against Azerbaijan. The Newcastle man will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing this lowly Estonia side.
Estonia – Player to Watch?
Alex Matthias Tamm scored the opener the last time Estonia won a game in 90 minutes and he started against Slovakia.
Sweden should really be blowing Estonia away here, especially with the in-form Isak and Gyokeres up top.
Scoreline prediction – Sweden 4-0 Estonia
