Leicester City defender Harry Souttar, currently on loan at Sheffield United, has taken a thinly veiled swipe at his parent club in a recent interview.
The 25-year-old centre-back, who joined Leicester in January 2023 from Stoke City, has struggled to establish himself in the first team, leading to limited game time under several different managers.
Souttar was signed by Leicester in an effort to strengthen their defence during a difficult Premier League campaign. However, despite his reputation as a towering and reliable defender, he failed to make a significant impact and fell out of favour.
The lack of consistent playing time eventually led to him being loaned out to Sheffield United for the 2024-25 season.
Since joining Sheffield United on loan, Souttar has enjoyed a promising start and is finally seeing regular minutes on the pitch.

Souttar’s subtle dig at Leicester
In a recent interview, the Australian international expressed his happiness at playing consistently again, while also appearing to criticise his experience at Leicester.
Speaking about his current situation, Souttar said (quotes via The Star):
“It’s just really great to be playing, to feel like a player again. And to get treated like a proper football player is really nice. I feel really good and feel fit. It helps massively on the pitch when you’re playing week in, week out.”
Although he didn’t explicitly mention Leicester, his comments about being “treated like a proper football player” suggest dissatisfaction with his time at the club, where he was largely on the sidelines.
While Souttar is enjoying his time at Sheffield United, his future at Leicester remains uncertain. Whether he can rediscover his form and make a return to his parent club or continue his career elsewhere remains to be seen.
