Earlier in the summer, signing a midfielder was one of Barcelona’s top priorities, as the club desperately looked to find an ideal replacement for Sergio Busquets.
Although Marc Bernal’s early performances are quite promising, his ACL injury, coupled with an apparent lack of alternatives, has made it clear that Barça must maintain that objective.
Joshua Kimmich has been one of Barcelona’s top candidates when it comes to signing a new midfielder.
The player was linked with a move to Catalonia this summer, but the rumours could fuel further next summer, as the midfielder continues to face an uncertain future at Bayern Munich.
Bojan Krkic Sr on Kimmich’s future
To that end, Bojan Krkic Sr., father of former Barcelona prodigy and current Barça official Bojan Krkic, has made a bold claim about Kimmich’s future.
Bojan Sr., who has served as a scout at Barcelona and Manchester City, believes Kimmich wants to join Barça amid uncertainties over his future.

“Kimmich really wants to join Barça. Great German and French footballers, when you ask where they want to play, they generally say Barça,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
Bojan did mention that Real Madrid are also rated highly by Kimmich, but the midfielder appears to favour Barcelona for multiple reasons.
“Real Madrid also appear as a top option, but in general, the player wants to play for Barça, for its history, for the club, for its greatness,” he said.
Bojan’s bold claim on Kimmich’s future is not too surprising considering the fact that the German international does indeed favour clubs with rich history and heritage.
Throughout his career, Kimmich received multiple offers from top European clubs. Yet, he had chosen to remain at Bayern Munich.
But it appears that time has come for a change, with Barcelona emerging as one of the potential…
