Sky Sports: Newcastle reject late bids ahead of September 13th deadline

It looks like Kieran Trippier will NOT be moving to Turkey following late interest from a host of Super Lig clubs.

Last Monday, Sky Sports revealed that Newcastle United had been approached by a number of Turkish clubs ahead of their transfer deadline on Friday September 13th.

However, an update from Sky’s senior reporter Rob Dorsett confirms that Istanbul Basaksehir, Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Eyupsor have all ‘given up’ on their attempts to sign the 33-year-old.

He reports that Newcastle have rejected loan bids from all four clubs over the past week and made it clear that he’s going nowhere, with Eddie Howe determined to keep the defender at St James’ Park.

After arriving late for pre-season following a busy summer at the Euros and losing his first team spot to Tino Livramento, who has also replaced him in the England squad, Trippier has only featured in one of our our Premier League games this season where he came on from the bench in a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth last month.

Speaking last month about Trippier’s future and importance to the club, Howe said: “The situation is business as usual, Tripps has trained really well this week. I’m surprised by a lot of the stories that have come out. [He’s] a valuable member of the squad. His professionalism has been first class.”
