Newcastle eyeing another Yankuba Minteh – Report

It looks like Newcastle United scouts are back in Scandinavia in our ongoing search for some of the world’s best emerging talent.

Last summer, we picked up a gem from Denmark in Yankuba Minteh, who sealed a £6m move from Odense, and it’s believed our talent spotters are back in that part of Europe with eyes on another winger.

According to HITC, Newcastle have been taking a close look at Nordsjaelland teenager Sindre Walle Egeli following his impressive displays for the Norwegian giants.

Egeli turned 18 in June and is contracted until 2028, but he’s been tipped to join a Premier League club soon following reported interest from Newcastle, West Ham, Brentford and Brighton.

The latter are no strangers with Nordsjaelland, having signed Simon Adingra and Ibrahim Osman for a combined £23m over the past two years, while West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus is another exciting attacker who started his career with the Norwegian side.

Egeli is a left-footed winger who plays down the right and earned his first senior appearance for Norway over the international break after starting the 2024/25 season with three goals and an assist in his last four appearances for his club.

Time will tell if Newcastle plan to up their reported interest, but it’ll be interesting to see if we explore the Scandinavian markets after Minteh made us a quick £27m profit over the past 12 months. For PSR reasons his arrival may be deemed a success, but there’s a feeling of regret that we never got to see the Gambian in a black and white shirt.
