Premier League exposed – More proof of ‘big six’ bias via Man Utd findings

Not content with just stinking out the Premier League in a footballing sense, Man Utd’s ripe rotten odour could be smelt nationwide yesterday as they announced a £113.2m loss for last season, bringing total losses across their last three-year rolling accounting period to £254.7m.

The ‘eagle eyed’ amongst you will have noted that the total loss figure dwarfs the Premier Leagues PSR limit of £105m losses by an eye watering £154.7m. Yet, don’t expect them to be deducted any points.

Chief Sportswriter for The Times, Martin Ziegler, tweeted:

’Man Utd insist they will comply with PSR limit of £105m losses over three years, but will need to claim significant exemptions. Three-year loss is £254.7m – much the same as Everton’s £257m for the three years ending June 2023 which led to a points deduction.’

‘Significant exemptions’ being the key phrase here as they are completely legal in the Premier Leagues financial rulebook, covering infrastructure projects, women’s team, youth teams, and community projects.

However, considering Old Trafford leaks, and they kicked the women’s team out of their purpose-built training ground in favour of the men’s team – it is difficult to see just where these ‘significant exemptions’ totalling £150m will come from…

The average football fan will rightly look at this nonsense and cry foul of a financial rulebook which is heavily skewed towards a handful of teams. It stinks, thankfully, Man Utd continue to be an absolute clown show on the pitch.
