Arne Slot said Liverpool had fallen short in “too many individual performances” on their way to a surprise first defeat of his reign as Nottingham Forest won 1-0 at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.
Callum Hudson-Odoi curled in the winner via a post in the 72nd minute with the first goal the Reds have conceded since Slot’s arrival as Jurgen Klopp’s successor in June.
“We had a lot of possession but only managed to create three or four quite good chances, which is by far not enough,” rued the Dutchman.
“We need to be much better and lost the ball so many times in simple situations. That is, I think, the main story from the game – ball possession not good enough.
“Too many individual performances in possession were not up to the standards I’m used to from these players. We were not able to create a lot.”
“It was a stop-start game, we didn’t create many chances”

Liverpool vs Forest result ‘setback’
Slot described Forest as “organised” and “structured really well” but did not hold back in assessing the significance of the result.
“Normally, they are not ending up in the top 10, so if you lose a game against them, that’s a big disappointment,” he observed.
“It is a big setback. If you lose a home game, that’s always a setback. I want to see the same attitude every single day: after a big win, a small win, a draw, a loss.”
“We played better than the opponent and didn’t deserve to lose” 🤔
