Adidas and UEFA keep the ball rolling for another 3-year cycle

September 16 – UEFA have renewed their partnership with Adidas which will see the German sports company continue to produce match balls for the UEFA Champions League until 2027.

This latest move builds on the strong relationship between the two entities, whose match ball partnership first began in 2001.

The announcement follows the unveiling of the new UCL ball by Adidas, which this season opts for a simplified black-and-white star design to mark the debut of the new Champions League format.

In addition, adidas’s on-going partnership with Common Goal will see 1% of all global net sales from adidas footballs – including this latest release – contributing towards initiatives driving lasting social change for under-served communities.

During the 23-year collaboration, Adidas has become synonymous with the Champions League with its balls’ star design, which reflects the tournament’s branding.

This partnership is also critical in the larger context of Adidas’s competition with rival brands such as Nike and Puma. By locking in the most prestigious club competition in the world, Adidas maintains its visibility and relevance at the highest level of football. For UEFA, working with a top-tier brand like Adidas ensures that its players and competitions are equipped with the best-quality products.

Guy-Laurent Epstein, UEFA marketing director, said: “Both of our respective organisations are committed to innovation and excellence in football, and we’re excited to extend our relationship into 2027.”

Bjørn Gulden, CEO of adidas, said: “adidas is proud to continue the partnership with UEFA for the Champions League. This tournament is the most prestigious event for European clubs and we are excited to continue being part of this excellent and innovative competition. We started in 2001 already and look forward to a successful future together.”

The ball will make its official debut tonight (Tuesday) for the Champions League’s new-look group phase,…
