Alexander Isak injury update | NUFC Blog

Eddie Howe is hopeful that Alexander Isak has avoided any serious damage to his eye after the striker was forced off right at the end of the first half of our 2-1 victory against Wolves on Sunday.

Speaking after the win, the boss confirmed that the injury was more to his eye, hence why he could not continue, but that he is waiting to find out more information about how serious it is.

Isak was on the receiving end of Craig Dawson’s clearance which hit him directly in the face and required treatment in the dying seconds of the first half.

It was then announced that the Swedish international would play no part in the final 45 minutes as Anthony Gordon moved to a central role, which is a worry considering Callum Wilson is also yet to return to the squad.

Howe said: “I think it was more his eye so I’m not 100% sure what the issue was but I knew he had to come off. We’ll find out more afterwards. I absolutely hope it isn’t serious as he’s such an important player for us.”

While he has not been in the same form he was last season, although he’s also not been receiving a great deal of service, Isak is arguably the second best striker in the league and it would be a massive blow to have him out for any length of time.
