Real Madrid icon hails Barcelona prodigy as ‘one of the top three players’ in the world

Former Real Madrid star Guti recently raised a few eyebrows by urging Los Blancos to sign Erling Haaland and partnering him alongside Kylian Mbappe.

Now, the former midfielder openly expressed his thoughts on Barcelona’s rising sensation, Lamine Yamal.

Guti hails Yamal as one of the top three players

Guti did not shy away from heaping praise on the young forward, who is currently leading the race for the 2024 Golden Boy Award.

While securing the Golden Boy award will officially grant him the title of best youngster in world football, it appears Guti rates the Barcelona winger even higher.

When asked whether or not Yamal is one of the top three players in the world, Guti had a clear and concise answer.

“Well, with what he does on the pitch, definitely yes,” said Guti (h/t Diario AS), who also picked Yamal as one player he would like to sign for Real Madrid.

Guti’s immense praise for Yamal comes just a few days after the youngster’s masterful display against Girona.

The forward netted twice in that game, helping Barcelona secure a 4-1 win over their Catalan rivals. The performance on the night extended Yamal’s tally to three goals and four assists in just five matches.

Even apart from his splendid performances this season, Yamal was instrumental in helping Spain lift the European Championship in the summer.

Now, as the season progresses, one would expect Yamal to continue playing a key role for Barcelona as they look to maintain their dominance in league football this season.

In the meantime, though, Yamal will look to focus on the Champions League opener this midweek, where Barcelona are set to take on AS Monaco.
