Vitor Roque has made a solid start to his loan stint at Real Betis. Having left Barcelona after a difficult seven-month period, the 19-year-old is endearing himself to Los Verdiblancos’ fans with his performances.
Roque scored his first goal for Real Betis last weekend in the win against CD Leganes. The 19-year-old was once again heavily involved last night as Manuel Pellegrini’s side defeated Getafe 2-1.
While Roque did not score or assist a goal on the night, the Brazil international had a hand in both the goals that his team scored, albeit there was an element of luck involved.
The Barcelona youngster’s misdirected header hit Luis Milla’s arm earning Betis a penalty which Giovani Lo Celso scored.
For the second goal, ‘Tigrinho’ slipped on his way into the box, but the rebound ended up in the boots of the Argentinian, who slammed home the second goal.

Speaking after the game, Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini highlighted the area that Roque needs to improve in his game – his finishing accuracy.
“Vitor is young, but he has been working in Barcelona for many months without playing and little by little he is getting better and better football-wise. It’s more a question of precision than physique,” he explained, as quoted by SPORT.
As mentioned above Roque’s involvement in both goals had an element of luck. Meanwhile, the 19-year-old was also guilty of missing a decent chance in the 31st minute as well.
There is no doubt about the effort and the work rate he brings to the table, but the youngster needs to maximise his goalscoring opportunities.
Therefore, Pellegrini insists and will work with the player to ensure that the chances he generates thanks to his generous effort are rewarded.
