Arsenal return to action on Wednesday with a home game against Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Cup third round.
The Gunners came within seconds of a famous win at Manchester City at the weekend, only to be denied by John Stones’ late equaliser in a pulsating 2-2 draw. Mikel Arteta’s tactics have come under scrutiny, with his defensive set-up earning praise but Arsenal’s deployment of the game’s ‘dark arts’ attracting criticism.
It’s unlikely either will be required tomorrow night, although Wanderers won’t be underestimated.
Ian Evatt’s men remain among the favourites for promotion from League One despite a disappointing start to the season that sees them languishing in 18th place after six games.
They did halt a run of three successive league defeats with a 5-2 thrashing of Reading at the weekend but will arrive at the Emirates more in hope than expectation of springing a surprise.
