UEFA renames and refocuses its non-European support programme under ‘UEFA Together’ banner

September 25 – UEFA has re-versioned and refocused its financial support programme for nations and projects outside its European membership.

The old UEFA Assist programme, which ran between 2017 and June 2023, implemented 409 projects across 120 countries worldwide.

The new programme, UEFA Together, “aims to be an enhanced, more focused, and collaborative approach to football development” said UEFA.

It will have three main pillars that UEFA outlines as:

Shared goal: three-year development projects, defined by UEFA and each confederation, focusing on 1-2 key areas of support.

Youth development tournaments: enhanced support for development tournaments within and outside of Europe.

Knowledge exchange: UEFA events will be used as platforms for networking, knowledge sharing and forming partnerships.

Where a UEFA member association has close links to or partnership with a non-UEFA FA, the UEFA association can continue to apply for support for development projects.

UEFA said: “The key changes focus on a reduced number of projects, with a greater duration, thus increasing legacy. The new programme aims at creating more opportunities for talented young players and will no longer finance infrastructure projects.”
