Tottenham urged to replace veteran player in January

Ange Postecoglou won’t be too happy with Tottenham’s start to their 2024/25 campaign, even if there have been a couple of plus points to highlight.

The Australian is rightly demanding of his playing staff, and if the Lilywhites want to put an end to their 16 year trophy drought, then everyone in the squad has to step up.

That includes those players that might be considered as being on the fringes of the first-team, and who only get cursory minutes now and then.

Fraser Forster would fall into that category given that he’s only played two games – both in the Carabao Cup – in the last two seasons, per transfermarkt.

Unfortunately, the 36-year-old was well below par against Coventry City in this season’s game, and that’s led to calls for his axing.

“I think that (Forster’s sale) might need to be something which is evaluated in January,” Lilywhite Rose podcaster, John Wenham, said to Tottenham News.

“Forster was really poor against Coventry City. There was that moment where he rushed out and crashed into Radu Dragusin.

“Davies then had to run back and the clear the ball off the line. That was complete madness.

“Therefore, I just think in January the club need to be targeting a brand-new goalkeeper. Someone who can actually come in and challenge Guglielmo Vicario.”
