Newcastle star set for Champions League offers in January after asking to leave – Report

According to a new report, Kieran Trippier will push to leave Newcastle United in January and looks set to receive offers from at least three European clubs.

This comes from The Sun, who claim the unsettled 34-year-old is ‘desperate’ for a fresh start and regular game time, with AC Milan, Atalanta and Fenerbahce all preparing January offers for the right-back.

It’s thought all three are exploring an initial loan with an option to sign him permanently next summer, but it’s thought Newcastle will ask for a straight sale if Eddie Howe agrees to sanction his departure in the new year.

After losing the captaincy at Newcastle, struggling to nail down his place in our starting 11 and reported issues with his marriage, it’s believed Trippier wants a new start outside the Premier League.

Italian duo AC Milan and Atalanta could both offer the former England international Champions League football and the chance to play in Serie A for the first time, but The Sun report that Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce are currently in pole position for his signature after showing interest in the final weeks of the summer window.

The same piece states that Saudi side Al-Ittihad and Everton both tried and failed to land Trippier last month, so it’ll be interesting to see if either reignite their interest in January.
