Saudi PIF to appoint new board member and Eddie Howe set target for 2024/25 – Report

According to Mark Douglas at the i, Newcastle United look set to confirm a new addition to the board connected to minority owners the Reuben brothers as PIF redraft their long-term plans and ambitions for the Magpies.

It’s fair to say it has been a bit of a rocky summer for Newcastle filled with uncertainty as the future of a number of players was up in the air, we appeared to be scrambling for a sporting director and Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi departed.

However, with the transfer window now shut, Saudi chief Yasir Al-Rumayyan is said to be re-evaluating our position and where we aim to be in the next few years, with the ultimate goal remaining to be the ‘best in class’ at everything we do.

Eddie Howe has been set a target of reaching European football this season, and failing to do so could result in a change of manager after just narrowly missing out on the Conference League last year.

The addition of a new board member, who has extensive experience of managing the Reuben brothers’ commercial property portfolio, should hopefully settle things down off the pitch and help in the long-term give Howe a team that is ready to challenge for titles.
