Newcastle set to announce 2030 deal with agreement ‘done’ – Fabrizio Romano

It looks like Anthony Gordon is all set to sign a new and improved long-term contract at Newcastle United.

Despite initially reporting that he was set to sign a five-year deal until 2029, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that his new contract will actually be a six-year deal that will run to June 2030.

With an ‘agreement done’, Romano reports that his new deal will be ‘signed soon’, where Gordon will move in line with some of the club’s highest earners.

A much-needed boost for the club and a real show of intent to reward his superb 2023/24 season and extend his current deal, which was due to expire at the end of next season.

Hopefully this helps Gordon’s performances on the pitch and ends talk of a potential return to Merseyside after Liverpool showed serious interest in a part-exchange involving the 23-year-old back in June.

Asked about Gordon in this morning’s press conference, Howe said: “We’d love him to commit his future here. We need to try and help him get back to his very best levels. If that means signing a new contract, then I’m all for that, to help him be settled and concentrate on his football.”

🚨⚪️⚫️ Important detail on Anthony Gordon’s new deal at Newcastle: been told it will be valid until June 2030.

The agreement is done and it’s gonna be for the next 6 years and not 5 as initially expected.
