Over the past week, it has become clear that Barcelona are all set to sign Wojciech Szczesny as a replacement for first-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The German international has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury against Villarreal last week.
Having acted swiftly, the Catalans narrowed in on Szczesny as their preferred emergency signing and have convinced him to come out of retirement.
Agreement in place, technical rules delay announcement
Reports of the deal being completed have been doing the rounds for the past couple of days but there has been no announcement from the club as of yet.
Providing an update on the situation, journalist Miguel Rico (h/t Actualite Barça) reports that everything has indeed been agreed upon between Barcelona and Szczesny already.

However, an official announcement from the club has been delayed due to some technical problems related to the rules and regulations of La Liga.
The long-term injury to Ter Stegen will enable Barça to register Szczesny with La Liga.
But the situation once again highlights the club’s unfavourable Financial Fair Play situation and the need to bring in fresh revenue either from the Nike agreement or the Barça Vision deal.
Either way, there is a total agreement in place between Barcelona and Szczesny despite there being some doubts that the 34-year-old might be reluctant to join if he has to play second-fiddle to Inaki Pena.
The only thing remaining now is for the club to resolve these technical issues with La Liga before announcing the deal.
