Brother of former Toon striker stars for Newcastle as young Mags stun Liverpool

Newcastle’s Under 18s got their first win of the Premier League campaign with a close victory over Liverpool U-18s away from home, thanks to a brace from Ethan Ndiweni.

Ndiweni, the younger brother of recently released academy talent Michael, was the star of the show as the young Mags won 3-2 at the Liverpool Academy, with Joe Brayson also finding the back of the net on Saturday.

Ndiweni won’t be the only familiar name to Newcastle fans, with Brayson being the son of former Magpies forward Paul, and 15-year-old Mason Miley of course being the younger brother of rising talents Lewis and Jamie.

It was a big win for our Under 18s, who picked up their first three points of the season after four wins and a draw in their opening five games this season.

Chris Moore’s side took the lead through Ndiweni in the 31st minute, before British-Egyptian attacker Kareem Ahmed pulled Liverpool level at half time.

Early in the second half, Joe Bradshaw missed an opportunity to put Liverpool ahead from the penalty spot, with his right-footed effort going too high.

Newcastle capitalised just minutes later, with Brayson finding Ndiweni for the 16-year-old to grab his second of the game, before Brayson himself converted from the 12 yard spot after Guy Bloomer was brought down by Rio Ngumoha.

Ahmed looked to have Liverpool back into the game with his second goal of the game just after the hour mark, and Newcastle had to hold off a late flurry of efforts from the hosts to secure their first win of the U-18 Premier League season.
