Villa Park hosts first Champions League match

Aston Villa’s first Champions League adventure continues when they face the might of Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The club are, of course, no stranger to European competition as they won the European Cup in 1982 before the creation of the Champions League, but they are facing European Cup royalty this week as Bayern have won the tournament on six occasions.

Since the loss versus Arsenal in the second game of the season, Villa have gone on a run of six games undefeated which included five straight wins in all competitions.

At the weekend they did drop points in a 2-2 draw away at Ipswich.

On Matchday One, they made light work of Young Boys with a 3-0 away victory.

Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara are back training after serious injuries but are not close to full match fitness yet, while Matty Cash and John McGinn are also out.

At the weekend, Bayern dropped points for the first time this season as they drew 1-1 with Leverkusen.

Manuel Neuer, Sacha Boey, Josip Stanisic and Hiroki Ito are definitely out.

There were slight concerns over Kane at the weekend as he limped off late against Leverkusen, but he should be fine to feature here.
