Barcelona rule out returning to 1:1 rule this month as Nike deal still far from being completed

Recent reports from Catalunya Radio indicate that Barcelona are unlikely to achieve La Liga’s 1:1 rule by October. This is primarily due to delays in finalizing their deal with Nike, which is not expected to be completed in the immediate future. 

Previously, it was announced that Barcelona had an existing contract with Nike that extends until 2028. 

Fans and club officials anticipated an announcement soon regarding a renewal of this partnership for an additional ten years. However, it appears that this announcement will not come in October as hoped.

There is an agreement in place

The negotiations between Barcelona and Nike have been ongoing for some time and have faced numerous challenges. Despite these setbacks, there seems to be some common ground emerging. 

The current expectation is that both parties will agree to extend their partnership while also increasing the financial benefits that Barcelona receives from the deal. 

This financial boost is projected to exceed €100 million, which would be a significant improvement over the previous terms.

Moreover, Barcelona are set to receive a renewal bonus as part of this extended agreement. This bonus will be crucial for the club, as it will enable them to comply with La Liga’s 1:1 Fair Play rule.
