Erik ten Hag takes his Manchester United side to Porto tomorrow night with reports suggesting the outcome could prove crucial to his Old Trafford future.
Ten Hag presided over a miserable 3-0 defeat at home to Tottenham on Sunday, a result that re-opened the debate about the Dutchman’s position.
He insists there is no need for panic, but another setback at the Estádio do Dragão would mean the pressure on Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa would ramp up further.
United could also do with a result for Europa League qualification purposes following a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to FC Twente in their group stage opener.
They certainly won’t find it easy coming up against a Porto side that sit second in the Primeira Liga following a 4-0 thrashing of Arouca at the weekend.
The hosts are also chasing their first Europa League win of the season after going down 3-2 at Bodo/Glimt last week.
