Newcastle up for three Premier League awards and £40m man dropped by England

Newcastle United featured in three Premier League nominations today, with Harvey Barnes and Nick Pope up for September awards (vote here).

Barnes has been nominated for the Player of the Month prize alongside Luis Diaz, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ryan Gravenberch, Raul Jimenez, Dwight McNeil, Cole Palmer, Ollie Watkins, while his stunning strike in last month’s 2-1 win at Wolves is also a nominee for Goal of the Month.

Pope is up for Save of the Month following his vital stoppage time save that denied Wolves a point at Molineux. Watch it again below, as Cunha’s late volley was clawed away by our No.1 to secure all three points. Watch the nominations for Goal of the Month below, including Barnes’ brilliant finish at Wolves:

Elsewhere, Lee Carsley’s latest England squad features Anthony Gordon and Nick Pope – a clear sign our No.1 should be fit for Everton on Saturday – but there’s no place for Tino Livramento, despite the right-back’s selection for last month’s international break.

Fellow Mags Lewis Hall and Harvey Barnes have also missed out ahead of upcoming games against Greece and Finland.
