Sky Sports update – Good news for Newcastle as the FA plan their next move?

According to Sky Sports, the FA have not yet made contact with Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe regarding the vacant England position as Lee Carsley looks increasingly likely to take the job on a permanent basis.

Howe was believed to be one of the frontrunners to take the job alongside Jurgen Klopp, Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel, with only Howe the only one currently in a job.

However, it’s believed that there has been no contact made with any of the four head coaches, increasing the chances of interim boss Lee Carsley being offered the role permanently.

From the outside looking in, Howe appears to be fully committed to the project at Newcastle and retains the full backing of the board who have been very vocal about their appreciation of the 46-year-old.

Newcastle will now be hoping that the FA will confirm Carsley as head coach as soon to possible to put to bed any potential rumours and allow Howe and his team to fully focus on their domestic campaign ahead.
