Toffees look to build on vital first win

Never has a team this season been more desperate for a win than Everton last week and they managed to pull it off by beating Crystal Palace 2-1 at Goodison Park.

This weekend, they face a tough task to make it two in a row as Newcastle are coming off an impressive draw against champions Man City.

Match Preview

Everton Recent Form

The Toffees are actually unbeaten in two games in the league as prior to the Palace win, they drew 1-1 away at Leicester.

Prior to that, their form was shocking as they lost four in a row against Brighton, Tottenham, Bournemouth and Aston Villa.

The losses against Bournemouth and Villa were particularly damaging as they lost 3-2 after being two goals up on both occasions.

Everton Injury News

Nathan Patterson, Dele Alli and Seamus Coleman are long-term absentees for Everton and at the moment it is unclear when they will return.

This weekend will come too soon for Youssef Chermiti and Armando Broja, who are still recovering from ankle and foot problems.

Newcastle Recent Form

Newcastle’s recent form has been up and down as they have won three of their last five games in all competitions.

In the Premier League, they have defeated Tottenham and Wolves, drawn with Man City and lost versus Fulham.

They progressed in the League Cup this midweek, but were uninspiring in a 1-0 win against Wimbledon.

Newcastle Injury News

Eddie Howe has had to contend with a huge list of injury issues this season as Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles, Callum Wilson and Lewis Miley are definitely out of this one, while there are major doubts over Alexander Isak and Matt Targett.

Kieran Trippier has picked up a knock but should be okay to feature.
