The long-drawn sponsorship saga between Barcelona and Nike finally appears set to reach closure as the two parties are very close to reaching a final agreement.
From a stage of being days away from termination, it is impressive that the two parties have managed to mend the bridges and bring the deal to a stage where completion is expected this month.
Once the proposal is finalised, the American giants will remain in charge of Barcelona’s jerseys for the next ten years.
One of the major hurdles the two sides faced in reaching an agreement was the monetary aspect as Barcelona felt they were heavily underpaid for the market share they enjoy. MARCA, however, provides an update on the finalised figure Nike will pay the club.

As revealed by the Spanish outlet, Nike will pay Barcelona €140 million per season as part of the new deal but that figure includes a certain sponsorship signing-on bonus that will be paid upfront.
As it stands, that bonus could be close to €150 million meaning the sponsorship per year will work out to €125 million per season accounting for the lumpsum advance.
The signing bonus is critical for the Spanish giants as they still have to fix their accounts for the 2023-24 season for which they reported a loss of €91 million. The payment default for the sale of Barça Vision created the gross negative but will now be set right.
More importantly, Nike’s sponsorship will allow Barcelona to return to the 1:1 rule. The club will not only be able to register players like Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen for La Liga but can also move into next summer’s market with better chances.
