As reported by Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Newcastle United are one of several Premier League and European clubs who are looking to sign SC Braga sensation Roger Fernandes.
Newcastle have previously shown interest in the attacker having been chasing him two years ago when he was just 16-years-old, with claims suggesting that we were prepared to make a substantial bid.
However, a move never materialised and now Fernandes has some top clubs tracking him as Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Brighton, Atlético Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, PSV and Ajax are all liking what they see. Hopefully, as O Jogo suggest, our long-term interest stands us in good stead, as it appears we’ve been tracking the teenager for some time.
At such a young age Fernandes already has a wealth of experience having made 52 senior appearances for Braga with 13 of those coming in either the Champions League or Europa League.
The winger has also shown a lot of versatility having played on both the left and right side of the attack – mainly on the right – and even chipping in at full-back from time to time, so it’s obvious to see why he’s well liked around Europe. Here’s a few clips of him in action:
